チンパンジーたちのお勉強生き物・学び・研究センター
京都市動物園では，野生動物の保全と人間との共生に向けて取り組んでおり，その一環として霊長類を対象とした知性の研究と教育活動を行っています。「チンパンジーたちのお勉強」はその一部として実施しています。
「チンパンジーたちのお勉強」の目的は以下の３つです。
(1) 野生動物の知性を調べる（比較認知科学研究）
(2) 動物の知性を実感していただく（知性の展示）
(3) 動物の知的好奇心を満たす（環境エンリッチメント）
Kyoto City Zoo challenges tasks for conservation of wildlife and coexistence with humans. As a part of tasks, we set “Primate study times”, which are aimed for:
(1) research of primate intelligence (Comparative cognitive sciense)
(2) understanding primate intelligence（Exhibition of intelligence）
(3) stimulation for intellectual curiosity（Environmental (Cognitive) enrichment)

現在は，チンパンジー，シロテテナガザル，マンドリル，ニシゴリラを対象に，タッチモニターを使った数字の系列を学習する「お勉強の時間」を設定しており，その様子をご覧いただけます。
We have three classes of “Primate study times” with Chimpanzees, lar gibbons and mandrills, and western gorils. They learn a sequence of Arbic numerals. “Primate study times” are opened for zoo visitors.
※「お勉強の時間」のスケジュールは当日の動物の状態により前後したり，場合によっては中止するがあります。
* Primate study times may be cancelled, or changed the schedule because they are dependent on conditions of each animals.
